Meonggajae means the place that cleanliness and neatness is made in Hanok in bright atmosphere, and traditional tile, wall, terrace where soy sauce crocks are place, courtyard surrounded with stone wall and so on looks like a perfect picture shaped in harmony with fresh sky seen between roofing tiles. Meonggajae is old house of Hanok reproduced with pine tree of Baekdu mountain, and it is the place that Soheon Jinsam Kim built with his own hands.
Meonggajae is located at the center of Bukchon tourist attraction, and you feel good and comfortable with courtyard surrounded with stone wall seen as you pass five steps and cross the threshold of Hanok. You may feel that sunshine very warmly comes between roofing tiles of Hanok, receiving warm energy of south. Meonggajae constructed in the shape of ㄱ with the courtyard as the center is the place you may feel the Korean culture, and will give you fragrant memory.
Memory in Meonggajae is a kind of meeting, will restore calmness worn out by crammed life in the center of the Metropolis. Enjoying life gone past is living your life twice, and it will become very precious time for your beautiful memory.

명가재는 밝은 기운이 감도는 한옥에서 깨끗하고 정갈하게 하는 곳이라는 뜻으로 전통기와, 담장, 장독대, 돌담마당 등이 기와사이로 보이는 시원한 하늘을 참 조화롭게 빚어내는 한 폭의 그림 같이 보입니다. 백두산 소나무로 재현한 한옥 고택으로서 명가재는 소헌 김진삼 선생님께서 직접 지으신 곳입니다.
명가재는 북촌 관광지의 최중심지에 자리 잡고 있으며 五계단을 지나 한옥의 문턱을 넘어설 때 보이는 돌담마당이 아주 정겹고 편안하게 느껴집니다. 남쪽의 따뜻한 기운을 받아 햇볕이 아주 따뜻하게 한옥 기와 사이로 들어오는 것을 느끼실 수 있습니다. 마당을 중심으로 ㄱ자형으로 짜여있는 명가재는 한국문화를 느낄 수 있는 곳으로 여러분들께 향긋한 추억을 드릴 것입니다.
명가재에서의 추억은 일종의 만남이며 도심 속 빡빡한 생활 속에 지쳐버린 여유들을 다시금 찾아드릴 것입니다. 지나가버린 생활을 즐기는 것은 인생을 두 번 사는 것이며 여러분들의 아름다운 추억에 매우 귀중한 시간이 될 것입니다.
