Description
경상북도 고령군 합가리의 개실마을은 조선중기 영남 사림학파의 종조가 되는 김종직의 후손들이 모여 사는 선산 김씨 집성촌이다. 무오사화 때 김종직과 그 집안이 화를 입게 되자 후손들이 몸을 피해 숨어든 곳이 바로 이곳 개실마을이었다.
골이 아름다워 가곡이라 불리기도 하고 꽃이 많이 피던 마을이라 해서 개화실 이라 불리기도 했던 곳이다. 개화실이란 이름이 호전되어 지금의 개실마을이 되었다.
김종직의 후손들 중 현감벼슬을 한 이의 집이 바로 이곳 개실마을에 남아있어 민박으로 활용되고 있는데, 마을에서는 현감댁으로 부른다. 개실마을 중앙에 위치한 현감댁은 명성에 비해선 자그맣다는 느낌이 먼저 든다. 돌과 기와 그리고 황토를 섞어 만든 돌담을 따라 입구로 들어서면 작고 아담한 한옥이 나온다. 찻집으로 활용되는 문간채를 넘어 들어가면 마당 한가운데는 나무로 만든 평상이 넓직하게 자리를 차지하고 있고 그 너머로 'ㅡ'자형 안채가 있다. 안채는 유달리 대청마루가 넓다. 마루 양 옆으로 한 개씩의 방이 딸려있고 옛날 부엌 자리에는 현대식 주방이 들어서 있다.
현감댁에는 작은 박물관을 연상하게 하듯 옛날에 쓰던 각종 농기구와 소품들이 곳곳에 설치 되어 있는데, 대청 마루에는 옷감을 짜던 베틀이 있어 조선시대의 의류 문화를 엿볼 수 있기도 하고 문간채에는 한방에 관련된 것들이 많아 옛 조상들의 생활모습을 엿보는 듯 하다.
실내는 실용성을 중요시하여 현대적인 화장실이 만들어져 있어 수세식 변기와 샤워시설이 갖추어져 있다. 또 직접 요리를 해먹고자 하는 여행자들에게 인기 있는 싱크대는 각종 조리도구와 식기류가 넉넉하게 준비되어 있어 좋으며 방 안에는 텔레비전과 에어컨 등의 간단한 시설이 갖춰져 있다.

Gaesil Village has been home the descendants of Sir Mungchunggong, Jong Jik Kim (Jeompiljae), the founder of the Yeongnam Academic Sect, for the last 350 years.The village offers sound leisure activities and farm experience programs to visitors from the city, and promotes campaigns to improve the income and quality of life for the local people and preserve the traditional culture for the next generations. Eleven traditional homes have been renovated into hostels for visitors.
