Description
[ About the Place ]
This historic site in Ocheon consists of buildings where the Yean clan of the Gwangsan Kim family lived for some 600 years, spanning over 20 generations, from the early Joseon Dynasty period. More recently, it has been designated as a cultural asset. The site also includes old houses that were moved to the current location in order to avoid flood damage caused by the construction of the Andong Dam in 1974.
Ocheon is named ‘Gunja Village’ because the village founder’s seven grandchildren were called the ‘Seven Gunjas (wise men) of Ocheon.’ Here, one can experience hanok stay in Hujodang (detached house), Eupcheongjeong (pavilion), and Gunjagowa (remodeled house).
