Description

Bukchon Inn is situated in the heart of Bukchon hanok residential area in Seoul. Bukchon (Literally “North Village” in Korean) has the highest concentration of hanok, the traditional tiled-roof Korean buildings. Due to its unique location, Bukchon has been home to high government officials and prestigious families of the late Joseon Dynasty, who needed to commute to the palaces often. The name “Bukchon” was synonymous to status and class in the era no more than 100 years ago. Along with the tumultuous modern Korean history, the quiet neighborhood of Bukchon also underwent significant changes. Modern buildings began to appear, and with the elimination of traditional class system, more and more people swarmed in to the village. Still, even in the 21st century, Bukchon retains many beautiful hanok buildings and a unique charm for residents and visitors alike. Koreans flock to Bukchon to get a glimpse of the bygone era and indulge in a tinge of nostalgia. The array of small shops, both modern and backward, create a interesting, vintage-like atmosphere. For foreigners, the odd mixture of tiled-roof houses and modern tenements seems to tell a slice of Korean history. But most of all, what makes the area special is that Bukchon is not a museum or folk village, but a residential area breathing, brimming even now with residents and their stories. Bukchon Inn is a cozy little hanok house that sits in the heart of Bukchon. The two major palaces, Gyeongbok-gung and Changdeok-gung, are both in walking distance. If you seek some excitement, the bustling, modern Gangnam and Apgujeong is also an easy commute on the subway. Jongno, Gwanghwamun, Sinchon, Hongdae are never more than 20 minutes away, day and night.

Bukchon Inn is a charming little hanok consisting of two differently sized rooms and two bathrooms offering you a cozy base for all your explorations in Seoul. Cheong Room (Blue) is a condo-style triple with kitchen utensils. Hong (Red) and Yeon (Green) Rooms are comfortable doubles. All rooms are equipped with air-conditioning and floor heating. A simple self-serve American breakfast (bread, jam, cereal) is available in each room. We are a young couple who, one fine autumn day when looking for a place to live, walked into Bukchon by pure luck. It was a day of our life. Now, with two adorable cats and a tiny house, we are loving every moment of our life in Bukchon. We hope you will love it too. Take a walk along the stone walls of Changdeok-gung Palace. Feel the majesty of Gyeongbok-gung Palace under the sun. Go for a hike in the beloved mountains surrounding the old capital. Listen to the crickets at night, not cars - there are not many places in Seoul where you can enjoy the luxury of quietness at night. If you’re looking for a unique experience with a true old Seoul charm, stay with us. Let’s have a beer and exchange stories. We look forward to seeing you!
